Health insurance

Health insurance like other forms of insurance is a form of collectivism by means of which people collectively pool their risk, in this case the risk of incurring medical expenses. It is sometimes used more broadly to include insurance covering disability or long-term nursing or custodial care needs. It may be provided through a government-sponsored social insurance program, or from private insurance companies. It may be purchased on a group basis (e.g., by a firm to cover its employees) or purchased by individual consumers. In each case, the covered groups or individuals pay premiums or taxes to help protect themselves from high or unexpected healthcare expenses. Similar benefits paying for medical expenses may also be provided through social welfare programs funded by the government.

By estimating the overall risk of healthcare expenses, a routine finance structure (such as a monthly premium or annual tax) can be developed, ensuring that money is available to pay for the healthcare benefits specified in the insurance agreement. The benefit is administered by a central organization such as a government agency, private business, or not-for-profit entity.[1]

An insuranceinsuranceinsurance premiumpremiumpremium for the same service can vary widely among insuranceinsuranceinsurance providers, which is why experts strongly recommend getting several quotes before committing to an insuranceinsuranceinsurance policy. The lowest quoted price on an insuranceinsuranceinsurance premiumpremiumpremium may be the better bargain, but the level of coverage may also be lower.

Tips for people with Diabetes

1) Look at total carbohydrate

-not just sugar. Evaluate the grams of total carbohydrate — which includes sugar, complex carbohydrate and fiber — rather than only the grams of sugar. If you zero in on sugar content, you could miss out on nutritious foods naturally high in sugar, such as fruit and milk. And you might overdo foods with no natural or added sugar but plenty of carbohydrate, such as certain cereals and grains.

-Don't miss out on high-fiber foods. Pay special attention to high-fiber foods. Although the grams of sugar and fiber are counted as part of the grams of total carbohydrate, the count can sometimes be misleading. If a food has 5 grams or more fiber in a serving, the American Diabetes Association recommends subtracting the fiber grams from the total grams of carbohydrate for a more accurate estimate of the product's carbohydrate content.

2) Beware of fat-free products

-Per gram, fat has more than twice the calories of carbohydrate or protein. If you're trying to lose weight, fat-free foods might sound like just the ticket. But don't be fooled by "fat-free" food labels.

-Fat-free can still have carbohydrates. Fat-free foods can have more carbohydrates and contain nearly as many calories as the standard version of the same food. The lesson? You guessed it. Compare food labels for fat-free and standard products carefully before you make a decision.

3) Pay attention to serving sizes.

The serving sizes listed on food labels may be different from the serving sizes in your meal plan. If you eat twice the serving size listed on the label, you also double the calories, fat, carbohydrate, protein, sodium and other contents.

4) Consider your daily calorie goals.

The same goes for the Percent Daily Value listed on food labels. This percentage, which is based on a 2,000-calorie diet, helps you gauge how much of a specific nutrient one serving of food contains compared with recommendations for the whole day. If your doctor or registered dietitian recommends more or less than 2,000 calories a day, you may need to adjust the percentage accordingly — or simply use the percentage as a general frame of reference.

college loan consolidation

Consolidate Student Loans

When is the Best Time?
Student loans can become a terrible financial burden under a lot of circumstances. Don’t believe for one second that financial duress only happens to people with low incomes. Here are some of the main questions you may ask yourself about student consolidation loans:
But what exactly is loan consolidation?
What types of student loan programs feature consolidation plans?
Where can you find a student loan consolidation lender?
Is consolidation a choice that’s right for you?

Consolidating Services: Nuts and Bolts

Here’s how it works: When you consolidate your loans, be they federal or private, you essentially secure a new loan. You apply specifically for a consolidation loan with a lender. The term, “consolidate,” means to combine. This is a misnomer: your loans are not combined (even though this is what seems to take place behind the financial scenes), but the lender making your consolidation loan literally pays off your other loans, the loans you couldn’t afford to pay, even if they are owed to multiple lenders. In their place you have a new loan with a new interest rate, one monthly payment and a new repayment term. Your consolidation loan is a new loan you owe directly to this current lender, no one else involved. That’s one of the advantages.
Ideally, a student consolidation loan comes packaged with a markedly lower monthly payment and possibly lower interest rate. A longer repayment term is almost a guarantee—this is how banks make your lower monthly payments possible. This is how a loan consolidation essentially works.
